Award program
Josie Music Awards
The Josie Music Awards, produced by The Josie Music Association, recognize artists, creators and music-industry professionals across a broad independent-music category system.
Eligibility is category-specific. Primary-category consideration requires a current official website, and work-based categories apply their own original-material, release/accessibility and category criteria. MAC does not publish an expired award-cycle date as current guidance.

Eligibility requirements
Key conditions that can affect whether a work or category is eligible.
Apply the targeted category’s incorporated release window
OfficialJosie uses category-specific release windows for applicable work categories. MAC stores the dates on category records only when the applicable official cycle has been incorporated.
Why it matters: Do not apply one release window universally across categories.
Provide the complete work where required
OfficialWork-based categories require the qualifying song, EP, album or video to be released or otherwise fully reachable through the submission material as specified by the category.
Why it matters: Reviewers must be able to evaluate the full qualifying work.
Submission and participation
How entry, deadlines, membership, or participation work for this program.
Use the official Josie review/submission process
OfficialArtists and eligible participants use the official Josie forms for review; self-submissions are reviewed first and take precedence over fan suggestions when space is limited.
Why it matters: This is a submission mechanic and does not count toward Award-readiness scoring.
Music Awards Center recommendations
Practical preparation guidance from Music Awards Center. These are recommendations, not official award requirements.
Keep review materials submission-ready
Keep links, biography/EPK materials and category evidence current so MAC can prepare quickly once the applicable cycle is incorporated.
Common submission mistakes
Music Awards Center guidance on what commonly trips up submissions — not official requirements.
- Applying one category’s release rule to every category
- Treating subjective judging factors as eligibility blockers
- Using social profiles where an official website is required
- Submitting covers where the category requires original work
